Election Commission of India has launched NERP (National Electoral Rolls purification 2016) on 1st March 2016 to improve the health of electoral roll i.e to improve the enrollment and remove multiple entries ,data errors by effective use of technology and to raitonalize the polling stations (PSs) boundaries and location.
1) Maximization of enrolment in 18-19 age groups
2) Ensuring 100% coverage of epic/per
3) Correction of Errors
4) Removal of dead/shifted/multiple entries
5) Ensuring good quality photographs
6) Updation of control tables of ER database.

1) Standardization of Sections
2) To ensure that voters are not required to travel long distance(above 2kms)
3)To identify and map alternative locations
4) To make rough sketchmaps as aprecise PS map drawn using CAD
